BLUE MOUNTAINS WILDLIFE Australia is a land like no other, with about one million different native species. More than 80 per cent of the country’s flowering plants, mammals, reptiles and frogs are unique to Australia, along with most of its freshwater fish and almost half of its birds. In Australia there are more than 378 species of mammals, 828 species of birds, 300 species of lizards, 140 species of snakes. The Blue Mountains World Heritage National Park is a wilderness system that contains many vallies and rivers. The preservation of the plant and animal habitat is vital to the eco systems on our property. The water from the Megalong Valley flows down to the Cox’s River and into the Warragamba Dam which was formed when the Burragorang Valley was dammed to provide Sydney’s watér supply back in 1950. |
