Where was the original Bridge? the view from this image of
1879 shows quite a substantial bridge The road winds a fair
distance to the south, away from the village and the Court house which
is at the far right at the top of the image.
The existing bridge on "the old Great Western Highway " prior to the deviation which runs to the current bridge is quite a small bridge ash shown in the image of 2009 ,and entails quite a sharp turn, which coaches and bullocks would not have been able to make. So the question arises, where was the original River Lett Bridge? The Bridge at 1879 |
