Coach & Horses Inn Rivulet
  In 1839 an Inn was advertised  for sale at the Township of Hartley.  The Courthouse had only just been finished. Thomas Rawsthorne had married Sophie Collits and with  his untimely death in  15 Jun 1837  at the age of 42, the Inn that he was running was put up for sale in 1839. Generally the inns were referred to  by the publicans name.   Pierce was the legal owner of the property and the licensee was Thomas Rawsthorne and the Inn was widely known as Rawsthorne's Inn . The inn was licensed as the The Kings Arms.    When Thomas died, Sophie married  Thomas Morris 19th March 1838 and she acquired the Inn in her own name in September 1838.  She put the property up for sale  on 17th May 1839.

The drought was impacting on all investments, and many wealthy capitalists were being forced to the wall of insolvency.   The Mt Victoria Inn was being built completed and she would have found that  the  trade was  going to be siphoned off to the first Inn on the Western Road  in the Hartley region.

It does not appear to have been called the Coach and Horses under the Rawsthorne/Morris ownership.

On FRIDAY, the 17th May, at the Royal Hotel, George-street, Sydney, A First.rate Inn and Premises on the Bathurst, Road, at the "Rivulet," within a short distance of the new Court House, in the Village of Hartley. It is built of cut stone, and contains on the ground floor one Dining Room 20 x 14, two Parlours, three Bed-rooms, with two underground Cellars. On the second floor are four Bedrooms. There are also detached, a Kitchen, built of wood, with Larder, and two Bedrooms for servants; a Six-stall Stable, and Sheds for gigs and carriages; also, Huts for men travelling with teams, four superior Stockyards, and a Garden of 1 1/2 acres. The whole comprises about Three Acres. Title-a grant from the Crown. Terms.-Twenty per cent cash deposit, on the fall of the hammer; the residue, by approved en dorsed Bills at 3, fi, 9, and 12 months, without interest; security on the property, if required. Sophia Morris was granted the block in 17th September 1838. It stated that  Sir R. Bourke promised the land to Pierce in March 1831. but he has requested that they be re-assigned to Mrs. Morris.

 But when the property was sold, it then changed its name to the Coach and Horses under the ownership of John Tindale.
